The meeting drew about 50 people to the 17th Avenue grange, where members displayed their historic clocks, milled around talking about clocks, sold and bought books about clocks, and shared their knowledge and love of the clock. He then showed a group a gold-filled railroad pocket watch made in 1902 that contained 21 jewels, explaining that the synthetic sapphires created a hard surface for the wheels to run against, increasing accuracy, and that railroad-certified clocks... A group of people enthralled with timepieces gathered Sunday at Live Oak Grange for a bi-monthly meeting of the local chapter of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors. Several people came to the meeting to get information about watches and clocks left to them by relatives.
